We witnessed a lot of twists and turns in the 8th round of the Premier League. Leicester City climbed to the top spot following their 1-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Foxes are a point ahead of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
It was a good weekend for the big 6 as well. Manchester United picked up the 3 points in a tricky away fixture at Goodison Park. Chelsea smashed Sheffield United in a 4-1 win. Tottenham Hotspur continued their good run with a win against West Bromwich Albion. Manchester City and Liverpool shared the points in a 1-1 draw at Etihad Stadium.
Aston Villa managed to pull off a surprise at the Emirates, triumphing 3-0 against Arsenal. Elsewhere, Southampton and Crystal Palace kept up the good work, defeating Newcastle United and Leeds United.
Many players impressed in the Premier League Round 8, and we have picked a starting eleven which impressed us the most.

Goalkeeper
Alphonse Areola takes the goalkeeper spot in our Team of the Week for the 8th round. Fulham were on the losing side but the French goalie was on top of his game.
Areola made 6 saves and 2 saves from inside box against West Ham United. One could only imagine how bad the result would have gone for Fulham if weren’t for the saves he made.
*Honourable mention*: Kasper Schmeichel
Defence
Thiago Silva retains his place in our Round 8 Team of the Week following his appearance in our Team of the Week for the 6th round. The 36-year-old Brazilian centre-back has made a tremendous start to the season. The leadership skills he possesses are doing Chelsea a world of good. Silva also scored his first goal for the club against Sheffield United. Wesley Fofana is his partnering centre-back in our team. The young French centre-back has started well in the Premier League following his arrival from Saint Etienne. He pulled off an impressive display against Wolves, and it looks like he is developing quickly to make a name for himself.
Matty Cash and Ben Chilwell take the spots in the fullback department. Cash was very instrumental in defence for Aston Villa. Chilwell carried on with a great start to his new life in London. The English left-back was on the scoresheet for the second time in the league this season.
*Honourable mentions*: Harry Maguire, Aaron Cresswell and Ben Mee
Midfield
Tomas Soucek makes our team following his top-class display against Fulham. The Czech Republic international scored the only goal in the game. He also made 3 interceptions and 3 clearances. West Ham surely seem to have done a great business by recruiting Soucek.
Bruno Fernandes was the match winner for Manchester United against the Toffees. He scored two goals and assisted United’s 3rd goal scored by Edinson Cavani. The Portuguese has been on a roll since signing for the club in January 2020.
Jack Grealish was stupendous in Villa’s 3-0 win against Arsenal. He assisted a goal and made 2 key passes. The Englishman is having a brilliant season, having scored 4 goals and assisted 5 goals.
*Honourable mentions*: Ross Barkley, Fred and Mateo Kovacic
Attack
Ollie Watkins, Hakim Ziyech and Eberechi Eze make it in our attack. Ziyech was very influential in Chelsea’s victory. He provided 2 assists and made 6 key passes. He another signing which is proving to make a great impact in Frank Lampard’s side.
Eberechi Eze scored and assisted for Crystal Palace in their 4-1 win against Leeds United. He is now beginning to settle in well, and could have a great season after succeeding in the Championship last season.
Ollie Watkins is turning into a proper big game player for Aston Villa. He had netted a hat-trick against Liverpool last month. On Sunday, he scored a brace against Arsenal. Watkins has now scored 6 goals in his last 7 outings.
*Honourable mentions*: Harry Kane, Che Adams and Jordan Ayew
